Colorado’s Finest from Farm to Bottle
In the heart of Colorado, near the Rocky Mountains, grows a plant with almost limitless possibilities. Our fields aren’t unlike any other farm you’d see on a slow, scenic drive. Here, our small team of growers and producers are hard at work, farming and processing this special plant.
What is CBD oil?
This plant, hemp, has been used for thousands of years for rope, clothing, and more recently, biofuel. We can now unlock its full potential. Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp is now considered separate from marijuana. This means hemp is no longer part of the controlled substances category, making plants and extracts legal. Hemp contains 0.3% or less THC content, meaning it is not psychoactive. The Colorado’s Finest team works diligently to ensure purity, potency, and quality.
CBD (cannabidiol) oil is derived from the flowers of these plants. It is then processed into a concentrated form. The active cannabidiol in the flower is purified using careful production and processing. In its liquid form, CBD can be consumed orally or administered topically.
What is Colorado’s Finest Growing and Harvest Process?
Colorado’s Finest is simply that. The finest. Our plants grow strong and sturdy in the Colorado sun and crisp air. We make sure all our growing, harvesting, and processing is free of chemicals, toxins, and harmful practices.
The seedlings are tended with care then transplanted to the field. A large army of hungry ladybugs are employed as a natural pesticide brigade. This keeps unnecessary toxins off of our precious plants. It’s more of a time investment, but it’s worth it to maintain the integrity of our plants and our core values.
The whole growing process is overseen by our small team of workers, dedicated to the beauty and intricacy of gently helping nature provide for the plants. Ben, a farmer and lifelong native to Colorado, says, “We genuinely enjoy the work. What we do matters and improves lives. What a rewarding job!”
As the plants become mature, our team harvests them to hang and dry. This step takes several months for the plants to be ready for extraction.
How does Colorado’s Finest extract CBD?
Once the dried plants are ready, the magic begins at the Colorado’s Finest lab. Leaves and flowers are pulled from the stalks as they make their way into a special device where the CBD is extracted. Extraction is performed a couple different ways.
Solvent extraction is not only a cost-effective method, but it is also preferred by many small-scale producers, such as Colorado’s Finest, because it is a natural, plant-based solvent. The flowers and leaves are placed into a container with the plant-based solvent. This extracts the cannabinoid compound from the plant to be processed and distilled into an oil form.
Another method used by the Colorado’s Finest team is crude extraction. It is also called “full spectrum whole plant hemp extract.” This process is exact and tedious. The CBD is extracted along with the full spectrum of cannabinoids and other compounds.
The end of this meticulous, careful process is high quality CBD. It is filtered several times to ensure plant material is left out. The batches are then brought through several tests to ensure the absence of metals, residue, or microbial contamination.
Colorado’s Finest CBD Production and Packaging
After extraction and processing, the pure oil is sent to packaging, where it is bottled and shipped. Customers can check the contents of their bottle by batch number and transparent lab results.
“We expect high quality oil and are attentive to the small details. My family and I take Colorado’s Finest daily tinctures. We ingest and live by our own products. We’d expect nothing less for our customers.” Tom, CMO at Colorado’s Finest, explains over his CBD-infused morning coffee.
